Engineering Support From Concept to Installation

We Don’t Just Supply Components. We Help Develop the Solution.

Complex rooftop projects require more than selecting products from a catalogue. Unitrade can work with project teams to develop a coordinated support strategy based on the actual roof and service arrangement.

Project Review

Provide us with your project information

  • Roof plans
  • MEP layouts
  • Service dimensions
  • Equipment information
  • Roof build-up
  • Project specifications
  • Design loads where available

Our technical team can review the information and develop an appropriate support concept.

What you receive

A support concept developed around your actual roof layout and services — considering loads, support spacing, bearing pressure, wind exposure, access routes and the roof construction beneath.

Load Distribution & Foot Pressure

Protecting the roof construction beneath

The load transferred from the support system into the roof construction is an important design consideration.

Support configurations can be reviewed to determine the load imposed through individual bases and the resulting bearing pressure.

Where required, base dimensions and quantities can be adjusted to distribute loads over a greater area.

IMPOSED LOADBEARING PRESSURE = LOAD ÷ BASE AREA
WINDBALLAST & BRACING WHERE REQUIRED
Wind Load Considerations

Designed for exposed rooftops

Rooftop installations can be exposed to significant environmental forces.

Where required, support systems can be assessed against project-specific wind criteria, taking into consideration factors such as equipment dimensions, installation height, building location and rooftop position.

Additional ballast, bracing or alternative support arrangements can then be incorporated where necessary.

Coordinated Design

The best support solution is rarely achieved by designing every trade independently

Where project information is available, Unitrade can consider multiple service requirements together to develop a more coordinated arrangement. This can help:

  • Reduce unnecessary support structures
  • Improve service routing
  • Minimise rooftop congestion
  • Maintain access routes
  • Simplify installation
  • Improve long-term maintainability
Our Approach

From concept to installation

  1. 01

    Understand

We start by understanding the project, roof construction, services and technical requirements.

  2. 02

    Design

Where required, we develop a coordinated support concept based around the project layout.

  3. 03

    Verify

Relevant loads, support pressures and environmental considerations can be assessed according to project requirements.

  4. 04

    Supply

Components are scheduled and supplied as a coordinated system.

  5. 05

    Support

Our team remains available to assist with technical and installation queries throughout the project.
